From January to June, Ava was enrolled in a dance and gymnastics class (through the Little Gym). She had the best of both worlds...30 minutes dance then 30 minutes of gymnastics. At the end of the semester, they had a recital/showcase. Ava was pretty excited about it...until we walked in! She instantly grabbed onto my leg and would not look at anyone. She still stood with her class during the ballet song but didn't dance a single move.
I let her sit with me during the tap routine and watch her friends. She told us that there too many people watching her. I understand her stage fright, especially because this was her FIRST recital EVER.
During the gymnastics showcase, she did the same thing. Which was NOTHING. Once the kids had "free gym" time, she performed her WHOLE routine!!!! But only because "nobody was watching her"....
Afterwards, there was a little awards ceremony, that she wanted nothing do to with...
Ava was in a better mood when Colin gave her a bouquet of flowers! So sweet!!! Then we took a few family pictures.
We asked her where she wanted to eat for dinner and she said "Ummmm, I think All-Stars!". We gave her another ballerina surprise at dinner too! :)
We are still so very proud of our ballerina! Hopefully she will get over her stage fright soon because she is going to an official cheerleader for Colin's football team in the fall!
