Colin turns 6!

Colin James is such a wonderful, energy-filled, athletic young man! His energy goes from the minute he wakes up to the minute he goes to sleep....literally. Being that as it may...so did his birthday weekend!

We started out at his school on Friday to bring cupcakes to his class and a Happy Meal for him. Colin requested blue and red icing with football rings for the boys and pink and purple icing and princess rings for the girls. (I didn't take a picture because I thought we'd get to join his class for the cupcakes.) Colin just LOVED having both of us at school. He kept talking to us and wondering if we could stay with him all day. On his way out to recess, he ran back to me, hugged me, gave me a kiss on my hip and said "SEE YOU AFTER SCHOOL! LOVE YOU!". I hope I never forget that moment. What a sweet boy!

When we picked him up after school, he still had blue icing on his lips and said all of the kids loved the cupcakes. I'm a little sad that we didn't get to party with his class but he said Ms. H took some pictures...maybe she'll send them to me. :)

Friday night, Pete and I were up late getting things prepared for the Super Mario Bros party on Saturday. Pete made the cake FROM SCRATCH!!!! He used Buddy's (the cake boss) vanilla sponge cake and vanilla butter cream recipes. If you didn't already know, Pete has a hidden talent...he is an ARTIST! He can draw, paint, and apparently, decorate anything! Check out his masterpiece of a cake!

We had such a great time celebrating Colin's 6th birthday with our friends and family. Colin was excited all morning for his party and was helping set up in any way he could. I think the "hit" of the party were the balloons in the trampoline. :) While the kids took turns jumping, we had soccer going on and 2 Mario themed games. Pin the Mustache on Colin Mario and Yoshi's tongue challenge. After completing  the games, the kids won coins and a Yoshi egg to add to their treat bags. Mario and his new mustaches are now displayed in our playroom and every time the kids walk by him, they laugh and talked about how many mustaches Colin Mario has!

Happy Birthday to Colin!!!!! Ava, and the wind, helped blow out the candles. Everyone raved about how good Pete's cake turned out...do I see a new business in our future?

We are so thankful for those who were able to come to the birthday party. We are missing some pictures of a few of the men because the Texans playoff game was happening at the same time so they were inside watching it. Good thing because it was a great game! The Texans won and will be playing the Ravens tomorrow for round 2 of the playoffs!

Colin really enjoyed all of the Mario Bros. themed details. In addition to the games, we drank "Power Up Potion", and ate "Bros. Pizza Bites", and "Bowser's Castle Pops". On each table we set out M&M's with the Mario Bros center pieces. For Colin's gifts, I used yellow poster board and brown paint to cover the wagon and turn it into a ?-box (like in the Super Mario Bros game). Colin "Why is there a ? mark on the box" Mommy "Because, just like in the game when you jump up and hit the box, it's mystery of what's inside." Colin "Oh....now I get it"

Sunday, January 8, was Colin's actual 6th birthday so we had yet another day of celebrating! While he was sleeping I hung streamers and balloons from his door so when he woke up in the morning he'd have a birthday surprise! When he woke up he asked why (and I quote) "is that stuff was hanging there". I reminded him that it was his REAL birthday and we wanted to surprise him. Then he ran up stairs and started hitting the balloons like volleyballs.

For breakfast we had kolaches, chocolate milk and fruit salad. He, again, asked me why the kolaches were in a number 6 shape. LOL Why we had to keep telling him it was for his birthday, I don't know. After breakfast, we opened presents. Colin LOVES Phineas and Ferb almost just as much as he loves Mario. He was thrilled to get a P and F t-shirt, slippers, DS game and Pez dispenser. (PS: He even wears his new slippers to bed) Ava picked out several things for her big brother (from the dollar store) and assisted with the opening. What are little sitters for, right? :)

For lunch we headed to one of Colin's favorite places...Chuck E Cheese's! What a fun place for the kids! Colin's BFF, Carter came too. After 2 hours of pizza, playing games and cookie cake, Colin ended up with over 500 tickets!!!!

We CAN NOT believe CW is ALREADY 6 years old! Time really flies!!!
