George the Elf (on the shelf)

George the Elf found our new house!

Colin and Ava really enjoyed having George around this year. The minute Colin walked out of his bedroom, he'd be looking for George. It was quite comical! George found our new house on November 30th and brought a few early Christmas gifts. When Colin discovered George he just looked at him and you could just see the wheels turning in his head. Then he asked "How did he carry all of this stuff when such little hands?". After rereading the story and enjoying a candy cane (or 2) it was off to the bath then bed time. Colin's questions about George kept coming through out the rest of December...

December 1: When Colin saw George he started laughing and then sat right in front of him. Then he looked at the waffle crumbs and asked if he could eat them. While eating breakfast with his friend, C told G that he wanted a motorcycle for Christmas and a 4 wheeler. Then he asked another thoughtful question...he noticed George's tag on his pants and asked if George was real because he has a tag and toys have tags... Pete reminded Colin that he is wearing pants and pants have tags too...

December 2: Because C told G about wanting a motorcycle, George found one for himself. When Colin found him, he said "Come look! It's really funny...AND he has a "cool" motorcycle!"

December 3: George wanted to take a little stroll with his buddies.

December 4: Ava was excited to find George. Mostly because she loves to eat candy canes.

December 5: Hangin' with his hommie

December 6: I spy with my little eye...an elf in the tree! I asked Ava where George was and she looked around, with her hands up saying "I don't know"...I pointed to the tree and she found him and said "OOOOOHHHHHH" and laughed.

December 7: Colin was so amazed that George got caught up in the fan cords. hahaha He asked us "why" and "how" did George do that. I guess George is just an adventures little guy!

December 8: After George's little escapade with the fan cords, he started to become a little more mischievous and silly. On the morning of the 8th, we found him fishing in our fish tank!!!! He was also enjoying a little fish snack as well. Colin helped George finish his snack and had a little convo while doing so. He let G know that he wanted a trampoline from Santa and a new jacket because his is getting too small. I told C to write a list for Santa and G could take it with him that night.

December 9: For the weekend of Dec. 9, we were traveling to Beaumont and, you all know, George must go everywhere with his kids. When Colin woke up for school, he was searching and searching for G. He was getting worried and kept asking Daddy for help. Daddy just said that maybe he's running late and we'll see him after school. When they got in the car for school....SURPRISE! There was George, ready for our weekend trip! Colin thought it was hilarious! He saw George as they were reversing out of the drive way and said "There YOU ARE, George! Look Daddy..."

December 10 and 11: George was able to spend the weekend with his buddy Playdough. Playdough watches over our friends Payton, Pressly and Reid. When G and P get together, it's a fun time. They hung out together above the playroom door (which Mommy didn't get a picture of) and got a taste of the girl's gingerbread houses.

We came home on a Sunday afternoon and when we got in to car to travel home, Colin (randomly) asked where George was. I told him that he must be on the way to our house because I didn't see him on the gingerbread house before we left. During our car ride home, Colin said (again, randomly), I bet George is already home because elves can fly really fast! When we got home, Colin immediately ran walked around the house looking for George. And where was he??...on one of the banisters upstairs looking down into the living room! He did beat us home!

December 12: Spending time with sweet baby Jesus. When Ava and I came downstairs for school, she saw George, pointed and laughed.

December 13: Welcome to the W's house...After school Ava found George and I happened to capture her pointing and laughing at him! Then she tried to grab him....the kids can't touch the elf or they will lose their magical power!

December 14: George found Mommy's favorite spot. When Colin saw where George was sitting he asked how old he was and if he was old enough to drink the wine. FYI: George is only 5 because he was born the same day as Colin. ;o)

Decmeber 15: After his wine, he needed some dessert. Colin laughed and said how funny George is. Before C left for school he put a piece of cookie in his lap for him to enjoy later. Such a thoughtful young man!

December 16: As soon as Colin woke up he was searching around upstairs and said "Oh, I wish George was up here." Then we went down for breakfast and there he was waiting in the blinds above the breakfast area.

December 17: Apparently George and his friends are very active and social little buggers... Ava wanted to hold George just like all her other animals but Colin would never let that happen! So she just held Eeyore and read the books.

December 18: George had so much fun in the playroom the night before, he played with a "roller coaster" the morning of the 18th. Mommy didn't get a picture of G enjoying his ride but here is a picture of Ava with it.

December 19: I guess George missed the North Pole a little bit. And he must have a sweet tooth because he does spend a lot of time at the Willetts' house. Colin was worried again because he couldn't find George. Mommy just happened to offer a Popsicle treat after breakfast... Colin yelled, "Aaaahhhhhh, George is eating ice cream!!!!" hahahaha

December 20: What's for Dinner?

December 21: Well....George had a little too much fun on the morning of the 21st. HE TP'd OUR LITTLE CHRISTMAS TREE! Mommy wasn't very happy but the kids thought it was hilarious! Every time Ava walked into the living room, she'd point up and said "George" and laughed. Colin was just laughing and laughing at the fact that G used REAL toiler paper to wrap the tree. What a naughty little elf! I have to say, this was a good time to teach the work mischievous and what it means and why not to be it.

December 22: Again George has a little too much fun...We L.O.V.E marshmellows in our house and I guess George does too. He decided to kept a snowman ornament from the wrapped tree for his inspiration.

December 23: The kids and I baked cookies at Nonnie and Pap's house on the 22nd and while decorating we had a conversation about George and how he would love to eat some of the cookies and play in the sprinkles. This is what we found the next morning!

December 24: George was done with his mischievous games and spend the 24th in a glass bowl with some decorative ornaments. He seemed tired and probably just needed a place to rest. (Sorry, no picture available). Colin was wondering if G would be found in the presents on Christmas morning because we would be unwrapping gifts too. Daddy and Mommy reminded Colin that George lives at the North Pole and he'd probably hitch a ride back with Santa on the sleigh or with Rudolph.

December 25th: See you next year George!

The Elf on the Shelf is such a fun tradition for our family and we plan on keeping George around for many years to come. :)
