To try and prevent anymore tubes and/or ear trouble, the kids each got fitted ear plugs.
Colin's plugs were actually molded to fit his outer ear and canal perfectly. He was excited because he got to "tie-dye" them 2 different colors. One pair is red and blue and the others are white and blue. Would you expect anything else?
We are very pleased with the ear molds. His ear canals are so crazy...they start to curve immediately and his plugs look like a hook. It takes a minute or so to put them in, but they have been great. We've gone to a water park AND the beach with them, and we have not damaged or lost ANY!
(knock on wood)
Ava's ears are growing at a more rapid pace so we just fit her to a pre-measured plug that was offered at the ENT's office. We ordered her an extra small. Aw...my precious petite baby! She didn't mind them pulling on her ears, mostly because whatever Colin does, she does. See....she even has a blue plug in her ear. HA! Next summer we will probably get the molded ear plugs because her ears will have started to slow down in growth and the plugs will be worth the money at that point.
We have been so thankful and pleased with Dr. D's ear surgeries!
Hopefully, this will be the end to the Willetts' ear issues!
(fingers crossed)
You mentioned something about ear surgeries, so I assume that’s what the kids needed the earplugs for. I don’t want to pry into why they had a surgery, but I just want to say that, if you want to protect their ears, you did the right thing in buying them earplugs. These devices can protect not only their ears and their hearing, but also their future. =) Hope they’re still having fun wearing these earplugs, and that they will no longer have any ear issues!
