It is only customary to celebrate St. Patrick's Day with wearing all green, eating an Irish dinner, and spending the day having green fun!
When the kids woke up, there was a bucket of green goodies waiting for them.
Since the glow-stick bath, the kids have been asking for more and when C saw the green glow-necklaces, he turns to Ava and says with a very excited voice, "AVA!!!! Look what Mommy bought us!" He was excited about his new shirt too!
But the more favorite was the new bubbles. Only a Mommy would be outside in her pj's in slippers at 9:00 AM blowing bubbles...
I didn't think they would like the green snowball treats because of the coconuts and I was right. Colin took one bite and spit it back on his plate, therefore, Ava didn't like hers either.
It was an absolutely beautiful day out so we spent the late morning enjoying it.
After nap, the kids and I made, green jell-o jigglers! I always remember making these as a kid and loving them! Plus, we needed a change on dessert around here. We are ALL for cookies and cake, but sometimes icing just doesn't cut it on a nice spring day. When Ava lifted her hand and saw the cut out, she would smile and yell with excitement!
We used our favorite cookie cutters...
C, A, W, D, a dog, a duck, a baseball hat, a football helmet, and (of course) a shamrock.
For dinner I cooked a "traditional" Irish meal of corned beef (or bacon, as Colin called it), cabbage, potatoes, carrots and added green food coloring to our drinks.
We ended our day with some Flores-fun, a family pic minus 1, and a st. patrick's day night-night story.
Every time something "fun" happened that day, Colin would say it was because it was St. Patrick's day. He's so cute!
After the fact, I discovered some super cute ideas (from friend's blogs) that I am saving for next year...
* set out a leprechaun trap the night before
*discover leprechaun feet prints the next morning and green "pee" in the toilet he used
*put green food coloring in the bath tub
*create a lucky shamrock with the kid's hand prints
