Our 4th of July celebrations are always full of fun and adventures.
This year we wanted to attend the festivities at TelFair's Community Center with Aunt Nicki but the timing just didn't work. So instead, we went to the Cinco Ranch Beach Club. There were 4 blow-up water slides (that we didn't use), a tattoo parlor, a trackless train and a few games.
It was HOT but the kids had fun!
When we came home, the kids made painted grilled cheese sandwiches!
We used red and blue milk to paint and we cut the bread into to star shapes.
We didn't get to decorate our bikes with Aunt Nicki, so we improvised. :)
Colin didn't finish...he lost interest when he knew it ws time to go to Michael's house.
For a late lunch, the Flores' grilled out and invited us over for some very festive drinks, snacks and desserts!
(sobe pina colada mix, red and blue Gatorade)
(blue berries, mozzarella cheese and strawberries)
This is a dessert that is a summer favorite in the Raimondo family!
Pretzel Salad:
Step 1: 2 cups coarsely chopped pretzels, 3/4 cup melted butter, 3 TBSP sugar. Mix and put in 9x13 pan. Bake @ 400 for 8 minutes. COOL!!!
Step 2: 8 oz cream cheese, 1 cup sugar, 1 sm cool whip. Beat sugar into cream cheese. Stir in cool whip gently. Pour over cooked (and cooled) pretzels. Let stand in refrigerator until firm.
Step 3: 1 large strawberry jello, 2 cups boiling water, 2 10 oz boxes of strawberries. Mix boiling water and jello. Add strawberries and stir. Let stand for about 10 minutes. Pour over other layers. Refrigerate until set.
I added another layer of cool whip, blueberries and raspberries. A friend suggested we add a white chocolate chips into the raspberries. DELISH!
We took a littlenap break after our late lunch. Then headed to Katy Mills to watch the fireworks.
Look at Ava's face!!! HAHAHA
We brought snacks, chairs and glow sticks!
Ava didn't like them so much. She wasn't crying or running away but she kept her head in our necks the whole time and didn't actually watch them until the last 5 minutes or so.

As usual, I was snapping away and Michael took a picture of me taking a picture and posted this on facebook.
"My friend Diana's favorite pose. The original mamarozzi! Can't move without a camera."
We had the most perfect spot to watch the fireworks display!!!

After the big show, we came home and had a little display of our own.
