Houston Zoo + Dino fossils

One thing my kids always LOVE to do is go to the zoo and see the animals! They both LOVE LOVE LOVE nature and wild life.

The kids are going to lead the way.

This warthog crawled UNDER the wire fence and ended up outside of the habitat!

Right after this picture, the Eagle started "talking" to the zoo keepers that walked by. I have never heard such a loud and beautiful squwak before!

The carousel ride is always a must! Colin road a cougar, Ava rode an elephant and Carter rode a dog.

When Ava saw the baby giraffe, her heart filled with JOY!
The kids were very excited and jumping up the ramp to feed them.
Once we got right up to the giraffes, Ava wasn't so sure about them anymore...

Next on the tour was a little AC and ice cream break!

The chimps were great! Again...Ava wasn't so sure she wanted them to be that close.
We were watching a few males clean their own hair. It was so awesome to see the animals that close! We could see the details in their teeth, nails, hair, EVERYTHING!

We walked down stairs to see the lions from under the den. And look who we found!

"Nala" was so close to the glass, you could see her breath!

The tiger was eating a bone that was probably the size of Ava!

This cutie pie was just having a grand ol' time playing in the water!

Onto the dinosaur exhibit!

They got to touch a T-Rex tooth and Dino skin.

All of the Dinos moved and looked SO REAL! I felt like we were in Jurassic Park!

These two sprayed water!!! SO funny!

Th aquarium was a great place to end our tour. We spent some time here because the kids were fascinated with the sea creatures! (i didn't get many pics because of the lighting and flash situation)

What is a trip tot he zoo without buying a souvenir...
Ava was walking around with a bag of pink and purple animals on her arm and a white elephant with flowers on it.

She ended up putting back the other items and picking a new cup...fine with us!
Colin and Carter bought the same water maze, each kid made a pressed penny, and bought a mini elephant.

It was HOT HOT HOT but we had a great time! We always love the zoo!

I've always wanted to try baking salt dough so I thought this would be a great time to try...
Salt Dough Fossils.

The kids made hand pint fossils too!

They are just PRECIOUS!

The next day was "painting day"!
Ava did a pretty good job of painting in the dino lines.
...at first

Colin was very particular of the colors and detail.

Their favorite Dino Fossil!

Now they are on display on the mantel for all to see.
