Pumpkin Bath Painting

The Halloween "season" is such a fun time!
I really get a kick out of the excitement in my kids when I pull a trick out of my "teacher" hat.
ok, ok,...the Shaving Cream Pumpkin was a trick out of my "pinterest" hat....

For a Fun Bath time, I used red and yellow food coloring to make orange shaving cream.
I also cut out some scrapbook paper eyes, noses, and mouths so they could create jack-o-lanterns.
The kids we a little hesitant at first because we've never done any "painting" in the bath tub before.
Once I showed them what to do and that it was safe, they dove (almost literally) right in!

Right after this picture was taken, Colin put some shaving cream on Ava's booty...
I was video taping and didn't say anything to him, good or bad.
SHE DID! Ava turned around and said "HHHHEEEYYYY...my booty!" Then I said that "Ava has a pumpkin booty!". The kids though that was hilarious!

Then this happened....

After the crazy shaving cream body painting, the jack-o-lanterns were finished!

Colin and his pumpkin have the same missing teeth!

Needless to say, the have requested more "bath paint" every night and the whole house seemed to smell like shaving cream! HA!

For a before bed snack we made orange jell-o jigglers.

It was a very excited Sunday night and it took awhile to get them wound down for bed...
it was worth it!

More Halloween Fun to come!

Last year for a Halloween Treat, we went to the Zoo Boo!

1st grade FUN {classwork and grades}

Colin is LOVING 1st grade!

His teacher is great and he has a really good class. There are only 2 kids that he knew from last year, but he has already made new friends.
He has already learned SO much! He has jumped 4 reading levels, has mastered all reading strategies and math concepts for the 9 week period, and has 'A' Honor Roll on his report card!
(okay...I'm done bragging now ;)  )

Below are a few writing samples from the first few weeks of school.

This was on display for open house. We actually didn't pick his first because there was no hair...

Torro from the Houston Texans came to visit the school!!!  So COOL!

Why does his face have a pig nose?  LOL.

Come back soon so for 1st Grade FUN!

Yummy & Mummy treats

After dinner last week, the kids were surprised with a little Halloween Dessert!

I found the ideas for the Candy Corn dessert and Mummy juice boxes on Pinterest.
The photos on Pinterst are WAY CUTER than what I pulled off.
Not too shabby for what we had "laying around the house".

Colin was excited (as usual) but once he dug into the dessert, he changed his mind.
We were very confused why he didn't like it. He LOVES all of the ingredients...whipped cream, mandarin oranges, and pears. He said he didn't like the orange juice on the whipped cream.
He did, however, inhale the juice box.

And Ava..well...she only ate the whipped cream. Shocking...I know. HA!

So much for a fun after-dinner treat...better luck next time I guess.

Willetts...party of 5!

Pete and I are SO EXCITED to announce that our family is growing by 1 more!!!
Baby Willetts is due mid-April and we couldn't be more thrilled!

This pregnancy has been great, just as Ava's...but more on that later.

We told the kids after our 12 week appointment so we knew everything with Mommy and Baby were healthy and ready for the next 6 months.

I told the kids that I had a surprise for them and they should sit on the little couch and close their eyes. Notice Colin trying to peak...

I sat in between them and said "Ok..I'm going to show you something and you have to tell me what it is."
When they opened their eyes, Ava said "Baby?!" and Colin asked if that was a picture of Ava. I told him that it wasn't Ava but... then he gasped (with excitement), smiled REALLY big and pointed to my belly.
"That baby is IN YOUR BELLY?!"

They looked at my belly and the picture a little closer, then we gave them the "posters" to hold.

Colin is BEYOND excited! We told him the baby will be here in April...after he turns 7 and after Easter. He had all kinds of questions...
When will we know if it's a boy?
Can it sleep in my room?
How many days until April?
Can I see more pictures?
the list goes on...

We told him he could come with us the appointment when we know if the baby will be a boy or girl. He is counting down the days until then!

My mom made me a t-shirt to count the weeks in my pregnancy.
She found the idea on Pinterest and I FINALLY get to share it!
(there will be another baby bump post soon...to recap the previous weeks)

12 weeks

13 weeks

YES, I already have a baby bump and NO, there are not twins in there!

What a BLESSING it is to add a baby to our family!

Pete turns 35!!!

Pete turned the BIG 3-5 this month!

We kept the celebrating to a minimum...mostly because his birthday was on a Wednesday and 35 is "old" (quoted by the birthday boy himself).

On the Sunday before his b-day, we went to Texas Roadhouse for dinner and cake.
Colin and Ava thought the saddle ride was HILARIOUS!

Grandma's Birthday was at the end of September so we had a double celebration!

On his actual birthday, Oct 3, we had our BFFs over for dinner and dessert.
I love to bake but am not so great at the decorating part...

35 pieces of candy for the sweet-toothed birthday boy!

Signing Daddy's birthday card.

HAPPY 35TH BIRTHDAY DADDY!!!!

the birthday girls!

It's that time of year again to celebrate my 2 beautiful and wonderful sisters' birthdays!

Nicki turned 24 today and Gina turned 22!
Seriously...they are 24 and 22?! What happened to my BABY sisters?!

We had a fun family night at Mom and Dad's watching football, playing with Ava and eating homemade Italian spaghetti, sauce and meatballs!

Being Italian is SO GREAT!
