National Ice Cream Day

National Ice Cream Day is the 3rd Sunday in July, designated by Ronald Reagan in 1984!
So, naturally, the Willetts HAD to celebrate.
Ice cream and Popsicles are the way to Colin's heart!

I handed Ava the bag to HOLD and this is was she did...laughing historically at herself.

Then Colin needed a picture too!

Blue and Pink homemade ice cream, coming right up!

The bags started getting really cold.
Daddy and Colin thought it was HILARIOUS to touch Mommy on the neck and back with their ICE COLD hands...
They didn't think it was so funny when I got them back. ;)

What a delicious Sunday evening treat!

This is her first time eating a cherry! She wanted the whole jar.

See, I told you...the KEY to his happy (sweet toothed) heart!

PS: I found the ice cream bowls and spoons at Kroger for $1.99!

Emily and Parker's visit!

What a BLAST we had with Emily and Parker!
Everyday was an adventure!
We went to the circus, celebrated Parker's birthday, Colin had football camp, and we went to a Skeeters Game!

It was SO HUMID! OMG!

We sat in the front row!
Colin was given a ball by #13...his favorite!

Colin and Parker were chosen to throw water balloons during one of the between inning games!
I guess that's one of the perks about sitting in the front row.

One evening we went out for an Italian dinner...
Daddy and Ava created a spaghetti sandwich.

We also took some time to just enjoy each others company and the Houston heat!

We can't wait until the next holiday break so we can spend more time with the fam!
Until then.... SOOOO WEEEE PIG!
Go Hogs!

Summer Camp 2012: reading club

Colin has been reading and completing work books this summer to stay on track for 1st grade.

Each book he read was documented on a Summer Reading Club log via the local library.
When he got to 20 books, we went to "claim his prizes"!
He earned a pencil, book mark, certificate and a TROPHY!

He was VERY proud of himself!

We spend some time browsing the kids section getting more summer reading material.

Three cheers for READING!

Side notes:  1) Ava picked out her own PURPLE bow to match her ORANGE shirts.
2) It was a totally coincidence that they are BOTH wearing their elephant shirts. HA!

cooking cuties!

How do you keep a toddler busy while cooking dinner?!
Give her a small stick of butter and a cutting board.

Sissy helping Mommy eat the batter bake.

Both of the kids like helping me in the kitchen so I decided to make day out of it.
For breakfast we made pancakes.

For dinner we had our own little pizzeria!
Ava did A LOT of taste testing...

While the pizzas were cooking, they decorated individual dessert pizzas.
Again...they were eating more than they were decorating.
They were laughing here: precious angel babies!

A few nights ago, we taught Ava how to shuck corn.
This is one of mine and my sisters favorite summer memories growing up.

Fully Charged {ringling bros circus} 2012

We took the whole fam to the circus earlier in the month. I don't know who was more excited, Colin and Ava or Grandma and Papa!

I picked up these cute t's from Carter's.

Before the show started, there was an animal viewing party.
We were able to get up close and personal with the horses, elephants, and tigers!

My husband is catching on...he came out of his closet wearing an orange shirt with a lion on it! All because we were going to the Circus and he wanted to MATCH us!

Colin was literally jumping up and down when we saw the animals, especially the elephants.
Ava was excited too. See was pointing and yelling "phant, tiger, horsey..." but when we were right next to the tigers, she grabbed on pretty tight.

There was also a 45 minutes clown and gymnast preshow down on the 3 rings!
The kids were mesmerised!

Asia painted a picture for somebody to win during a raffle.

Apparently, elephants' favorite treat is an entire loaf of bread.

And the show begins!

The elephants were our family favorite!

\

Colin named his elephant Asia and Ava named hers Baby Asia!
Why are my kids SO STINKIN' PRECIOUS?!?!

Being silly on our way out. :)

We went to the Sunday morning showing to avoid Ava being a mess during nap time. We were there for about 5 or 6 hours because of the preshow events and the circus itself was longer than 3 hours.
She did SO GOOD! And then passed out before we even got out of the parking lot!

The kids bring the elephants every where!
So sweet!
