cinco ranch nature adventure

Last weekend we went to the Annual Cinco Ranch Nature Adventure before our baseball game.

Below is the post card that went out to all CR residents that Red6Designs (aka: Andrew Raimondo) created!  Andrew is contracted with CincoLife, TelfairLife and Aliana for all of their advertisements and neighborhood events. If you need a graphic artist, shoot him an e-mail red6design@yahoo.com and/or check out his website!

Here is recent Aliana postcard.

Now, onto the fun stuff...ponies, partybooth, snakes, and much more!

Colin and Max climbing the rock wall.

The petting zoo.
Usually Ava loves petting zoos but this one was a crowded, the animals were not very friendly and it was cold and very windy. So, she didn't let me put her down.

Pony Rides.
The kids really wanted to ride the camels but the line was too long and we were on a time crunch.
When we took Ava off her Pony, she cried because she wanted to stay on.

SNAKES!
The boys and I had no shame about holding and petting the snakes! Susanna and Pete stayed back and trembled watched from a far.

The Houston Zoo came to the event and brought a few animal skins, bones and shells.

Colin and Carter planted a green bean seed to grow at home.
Ours just started to sprout yesterday!

There was a party(photo)booth there so we HAD TO take advantage of it! Enjoy!

It was a perfect (windy) April day to enjoy the Nature Adventure!
We plan on going back again next year...hopefully we will get to stay longer than an hour.

Colin's Kindergarten Korner: Spring is in the Air

Colin's Spring activities for school have kept us busy busy busy.

In March the Kindergarten team put on a Rodeo Day for the kids and taught a 2 week unit on Texas and the rodeo.
The at home activity was to decorate a cowboy and finish the writing prompt
"If I was a Cowboy I would..."

Cowboy Colin would ride a horse!

This picture doesn't truly show his excitement for the Kindergarten Round-Up, however, it DOES reflect his personality each and every morning.

Pete nor I were able to attend the Kinder Round-Up but our friend and neighbor was able to take a few shots of C during the "barrel racing". After school Colin told us that he accidentally hit Ms. Hlinak with a snake (or a ring or something...I can't remember...OOPS!) during one of the events.

In April, his teacher planned a SPRING, sight word, egg hunt. We had to provide 5 eggs with the letters S-P-R-I-N-G written on them. When he came home, he probably had 12 or 13 eggs instead of the directed 6. :o/

They also finished their study on hibernation and winter with a teddy bear picnic. Everybody brought a bear to school and were "awakened" from hibernating with a class read aloud and small picnic.

To honor and celebrate Earth Day, we rode our bikes to school and enjoyed a complimentary donut breakfast. We bought a new ride along car for Ava and she is IN.LOVE.WITH.IT! Since then, she has been asking "bike?!, bike?!" every time we pass the garage door.
The Flores, Cannons and Willetts all rode together and
Belinda was able to get some action shots of our crew!
{pictures of above coming soon!}

ready to roll!

BFFs!

The Cannon girls...sorry for the akward pic :0/

the Michaels

please excuse the worst actions shots below...LOL! I should've made them freeze and smile...

coloring easter eggs

the Easter festivities are not complete without a little dye, magic crayons, and stickers

This year we shared the fun with Carter and his famiy. The kids had a good time talking about which color they were going to use next and what design they were going to draw and helping eachother move the eggs to the drying racks. We did have a little spill of green and Pete dropped an entire carton of eggs...good thing the were hard boiled!

Ava's stickers for her eggs were dogs and cats...I think she used every "doggie" sticker!
She even gave one to Penny, Carter's dog.
Over a week later, Ava was telling me "doggie, DOGGIE!" and pointing to the 'fridge. Then she wanted the egg carton and when I opened it, she grabbed one of her red eggs that had a dog sticker on it. I was so surprised that she randomly thought about the eggs we made and that she actually remembered that. She is only 21 months old! What a smart little baby! Oh, and then she started hitting it on her head and laughing...I guess she thought it was a confetti egg!

At Nana and Papa's house, we had a "fake easter" on the 15th.
They had an egg hunt, baskets and hard-boiled eggs to color.
